Your Toyota’s maintenance schedule has been carefully planned to ensure that components are replaced before they wear out. Worn or damaged components reduce performance and could cause a breakdown or an accident. As your Toyota dealership, we offer a complete range of services for your vehicle to keep it in great shape. We’d like you to know some signs you need to visit us for Toyota maintenance.

Worn Shocks

A shock absorber is attached to each wheel and connects to the frame. When you drive over potholes, irregular surfaces, or rough terrain, the shock absorbers move up and down to absorb the kinetic energy produced by driving over these surfaces and dissipate it. This action helps you enjoy a smooth ride and reduces wear and tear on the tires, axles, and other steering components.

Shocks will wear out over time and are usually replaced every 50,000 to 100,000 miles. Replacement time can vary depending on your driving conditions, and the correct replacement time for your Toyota model is listed in your vehicle handbook. If driving feels bumpier than it should, contact us so we can check your shocks. If they’re worn or damaged, we can quickly replace them for you.

Coolant Leak

A puddle of pink, green, blue, or orange fluid under your Toyota means there’s a coolant leak. Coolant is vital for your engine’s health, as it absorbs the heat produced by combustion and the movement of countless engine components. Once the heat is absorbed, the coolant passes into the radiator, where the heat is removed by heat exchange with the cooler outside air that enters through the radiator grills.

Worn seals, a loose radiator hose, or a damaged radiator can all cause a leak. As coolant is lost, pressure drops in the cooling system, and the remaining fluid slows. As a result, your engine temperature will rise, and excessive engine temperatures can cause serious, even fatal, engine damage. Our technicians will repair the leak and refill the fluid.

Misfiring

Misfiring happens when the fuel-air mixture in a cylinder doesn’t ignite successfully. This could be caused by a hole in the cylinder, damaged cylinder seals, a fuel-rich engine, or worn spark plugs. All these issues cause the fuel-air mixture to burn irregularly instead of igniting in a precisely timed series of mini explosions.

If a misfire occurs, engine power will temporarily drop, you’ll feel a lurching sensation, and usually hear a loud noise from the engine. Continued misfiring will damage the affected cylinder and piston. We’ll find the cause of the misfire and fix it.

Our Toyota-trained technicians can quickly and efficiently repair any possible problem. Contact us today at Stapp Interstate Toyota in Frederick, CO.
